OAK LAWN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE RECOGNIZES WINNERS OF THE ANNUAL
FIRE AND PUBLIC SAFETY COLORING BOOK CONTEST
Winners selected from hundreds of entries submitted by local grammar school students
OAK LAWN, IL, MARCH 26, 2015 – The Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce recognized winners of the annual Fire and Public Safety Coloring Book contest during the March 24th Village board meeting. Representatives from the Oak Lawn Fire and Police Departments were on hand to congratulate the winners who were honored by Village President, Dr. Sandra Bury, during the meeting. Also in attendance were Jennifer Villafan , President of the Oak Lawn Chamber; Kathleen Farrell, Vicki, Scanlon Board Of Directors of the Oak Lawn Chamber; Glen Kato, Past President of the Oak Lawn Chamber; Erik Hullinger, Ambassador of the Oak Lawn Chamber; Fire Chief, George Sheets; Police Chief, Mike Murray; Police Sergeant, Jim Pacetti.
Following the presentation, the winners and their families gathered in the lobby of the Village Hall for refreshments sponsored by the Oak Lawn Chamber. The 1st place winner received a Family membership to The Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn plus a $25 GC to The Children’s Museum and a $25 GC for a savings account at Oak Lawn Bank & Trust. 2nd and 3rd place winners received a $25 GC to The Children’s Museum plus a $25 GC for a savings account at Oak Lawn Bank & Trust. Representatives from the Chamber membership who sponsored the $25 gift certificates were: 21st Century Chiropractic Family Wellness, Comfort Keepers, Cusack Insurance Agency, Griswold Home Care, Law Offices of Eileen Kerlin-Walsh, Oak Lawn Bank & Trust, and Standard Bank & Trust. The Family Membership to the Children’s Museum for the 1st place winners was donated by The Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn.

For nearly 30 years the Oak Lawn Chamber has collaborated with the Oak Lawn Fire Department to produce this valuable teaching tool for nearly 4,000 K-4th grade students in the community. For the past three years, the Fire and Police Departments have collaborated on the production of the book. Books are distributed to the students by the Oak Lawn Fire Department during Fire Safety Week in October. The 1st place drawing from the respective coloring contests will be featured on the cover of the 2014 Fire and Public Safety Coloring Book.
Founded in 1946, today the Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce consists of more than 300 members. The Chamber of Commerce works to represent and advance the Oak Lawn business community, striving with constant integrity, fairness and cooperation to promote and improve the economic atmosphere, business climate and image of Oak Lawn.
