Oak Lawn Cheerleading Squads Place At Marian Catholic, Earn State Shot
Oak Lawn Community High School varsity and JV squads place at Marian Catholic, qualify for state cheerleading championships in January.
OAK LAWN, IL — The Oak Lawn Community High School cheerleaders recently competed at Marian Catholic, and the Spartans came out with spirits soaring. The varsity squad earned second place, and the junior varsity squad took third. Both teams qualified for the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association Championships coming up on Jan. 21 and 22 in Springfield, Ill.
“Both of the squads hit that mat giving everything they had,” said head coach Maria Vanderwarren. “They were determined, that is for sure, and it paid off. They had the crowd on their feet, and they were very energizing. Both performances were outstanding, and I am proud and honored to coach such great athletes.”
