Oak Lawn Community Church Drive-Thru Food Pantry Open Wednesday
Oak Lawn Community Church will be distributing food Wednesday, June 10, at the Bridgevew Community Center.

OAK LAWN, IL — Oak Lawn Community Church food pantry would like to let Oak Lawn residents know that the church will be holding food pantry hours Wednesday, June 10, at the Bridgeview Community Center, 7902 S. Oketo Ave., Bridgeview. The food pantry serves 150 families and regularly distributes food from noon to 2 p.m. every Wednesday.
The church’s food pantry, which is part of the Greater Chicago Food Depository network, was established in the 1980s. The pantry moved its base in 2016 to the Bridgeview Community Center so it would have space for its food supply. Today, the Oak Lawn Community Church is the only food pantry in the south suburbs that offers meat, and one of the few that regularly offer produce.
Oak Lawn Community Church’s food pantry serves 150 families per month, who come from 20 south suburbs and five Chicago Zip Codes. Vicki Mitchell, a representative of OLCC, said the pantry would like to see more Oak Lawn residents take advantage of the pantry, especially with the high rate of unemployment because of the pandemic.
