Oak Lawn, Hometown Plan 2019 Memorial Day Tributes To The Fallen
Take a moment out of your holiday weekend to honor the fallen at Oak Lawn and Hometown Memorial Day ceremonies on May 27.

OAK LAWN, IL -- The Village of Oak Lawn and will mark Memorial Day with a 21-gun salute and a special veterans church service. This year, Memorial Day falls on Monday, May 27. Here is a lineup of activities planned for the day.
Oak Lawn Bible Church will hold a Memorial Day service of remembrance for veterans who have died during the past year, as well as military members who've laid down their lives in service to our country. The service starts at 10 a.m. and includes a reading of names of those members from Johnson Phelps VFW Post 5220, the Johnson Phelps VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Green Oaks American Legion Post 757 who have passed away this past year, followed by Taps. Oak Lawn Bible Church is located at 9435 S. 54th Avenue, Oak Lawn.
Immediately following the church service, Immediately following, Johnson-Phelps VFW Post 5220 will hold a Memorial Day ceremony at the Oak Lawn Veterans Memorial, 9427 S. Raymond Ave. (95th Street @ Raymond Avenue) starting at 11 a.m. The ceremony includes remarks by local elected officials, laying of wreaths by various veterans groups, the playing of Taps and a 21-gun salute. Congressman Dan Lipinski has been invited to speak at the ceremony.

The ladies and gentlemen of Johnson-Phelps offer the perfect opportunity to take a few moments out of your day to remember those who served our country. In case of rain, the ceremony will be moved indoors to the VFW Post at 9514 S 52nd Ave., Oak Lawn. Everyone is invited to the post for coffee after the ceremony.
The City of Hometown will also be gathering at 11a.m. by the War Memorial in Patterson Park, 8780 Main St., for a remembrance ceremony.
