Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 Celebrates 100 Days of Learning
February 6 was the 100th Day of School for Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123, and it was a great time to recognize students' progress.
February 6 marked the 100th Day of School in Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 and elementary schools celebrated the occasion with games, scavenger hunts, and dressing up like 100-year-olds.
For many elementary schools in the country, the winter months seem to drag, so the 100th day of school is a perfect time to celebrate students’ progress in between the excitement of the holiday season and the wait for spring break. It’s also a great moment to recognize that they’re more than halfway through the school year.
In District 123, many students, teachers, and principals dressed up in wigs, gowns, and accessories to look like they were 100 years old. At Covington and Hannum, pictures of their mascots were hidden around the school for students to find and place on a poster.

Each of the schools also included 100 in their classrooms with games and activities such as art projects or taking turns rolling a die and coloring until someone reached the 100th square.
By taking a moment to celebrate and reflect on the accomplishments over the last 100 days, students are motivated to continue their learning through the rest of the year.
