Oak Lawn Parks Offers Summer Hangout Program for Grades K-8

The Oak Lawn Park District is offering an outdoor summer hangout program with physical distancing designed to get kids out of the house.

OAK LAWN, IL — Although the Oak Lawn Park District's traditional summer camps for the 2020 have been cancelled due to the pandemic, the park district is offering a new and fun Summer Hangout program from July 6 – August 7. This program allows kindergarten through eighth grade -aged participants to get out of the house, enjoy the outdoors, and participate in fun activities.

Campers will enjoy games with physical distancing, crafts, movies, experiments, and more. This is a Monday-Friday program that will run 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants must be enrolled for all five weeks.

This program will be held primarily outside and will have two host sites; the Oak View Center, 4625 W. 110th St., and Oak Lawn Community Pavilion, 9401 S. Oak Park Ave., with the potential of additional locations based on enrollment.

The park district will follow state guidelines in regard to social distancing and face masks. Group sizes will be limited to eight campers and two counselors. A designated area will be assigned to each group. Each group will have limited mixing and items used. There will also be intensified cleaning and disinfecting procedures in place.

Register at www.olparks.com. Resident fee is $600 and non-resident fee is $650. Payment is due at registration. Registration for residents begins June 1st. Registration for non-residents, if spots are available, begins June 8th. Sign up for the Oak View Center site using code 129400 or the Community Pavilion site using code 129401.
