Oak Lawn Parks Hiring Lifeguards, Swim Instructors for 2019
Summer pool season is just around the corner and the Oak Lawn Park District is hiring lifeguards and swim instructors for 2019.

OAK LAWN, IL -- Pool season is right around the corner and the Oak Lawn Park District is now taking applications for swim instructors, lifeguards and pool cashiers. The Summer 2019 pool season starts June 10. If you’re in high school or college (or if you have a youngster of that age) and 16 years old, this is a great opportunity to line up a summer job. Preference will be given to Oak Lawn residents.

Swim Lesson Instructor
The park district swim program is based on the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program. Starting wage for swim lesson instructors is 10 per hour for group lessons and $15 for private lessons. Prior swim knowledge is required and Water Safety Instruction Certification is a plus.

Qualifications:
1. Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
2. Friendly, outgoing personality, positive attitude and the ability to work well with others in a team oriented environment.
3. Prior swim lessons teaching experience preferred.
4. Must enjoy working with children.
5. This position is responsible for the safety of the participants in their own class.
6. Work hours as scheduled, which includes beginning and ending class on time; remaining after class to answer participant and/or parent questions as needed, and clean up supplies.
7. Instructs and evaluates students participating in swim lessons
8. Submits completed report cards, skills sheets and attendance information on time.

Tot Swim Lesson Instructor
The Oak Lawn Park District is now taking applications for Tot Swim Lesson Instructors for the summer 2019 season. We are looking for energetic individuals who are creative and can work with infants through toddlers and their parents. The Oak Lawn Park District swim program is based on the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program. Starting wage for Tot Swim Lesson Instructors is $10 per hour for group lessons. Prior swim knowledge is preferred but not required, and WSI Certification is a plus.
Qualifications:
1. Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.

Pool Cashier
The pool cashier is responsible for handling and accounting for money, filing, communicating by telephone, performing simple arithmetic, data entry and analyzing data or report information and dealing effectively with the public. $8.25 per hour.
Qualifictions:
- Cashier must be at least 16 years of age.
- Experience with customer service.
- Ability to provide conflict resolution.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the public.
- Available to work evenings and weekends.
- Must be physically able to perform duties as assigned.
- Acceptable math skills to accurately count money.
- Ability to exercise good judgement and effectively enforce pool rules.
- Ability to main courteous and helpful working relationships with the public of all ages.
- Must be able to work effectively under direct supervision
Lifeguard
Lifeguards are responsible to ensuring the safety of patrons including accident prevention in the water and on surrounding areas and the rescue and care of accident victims. Starting wage is $8.25 per hour.
Qualifications:
1. Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
2. American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or the ability to obtain.
3. American Red Cross CPR for the professional rescuer certification or the ability to obtain.
4. Possess the ability to swim 500 yards continuously, tread water for two minutes and the ability to retrieve a 10-lb brick from the bottom of the deep well.
