Oak Lawn police helped catch a suspect wanted for a May 21 Oak Park home invasion, in which a woman was bound, assaulted and robbed.
Mark Barnes, 43, was arrested Saturday at a motel in the 9300 block of south Cicero Avenue in Oak Lawn, according to Oak Park police.

Oak Lawn police helped arrest Barnes without incident. Barnes has been charged with home invasion, aggravated criminal sexual assault and armed robbery, according to Oak Park police.

Evidence found at the crime scene connected Barnes to the home invasion.
A judge denied bond for Barnes. His next court date is scheduled for June 9 in Markham, according to Cook County Sheriff’s Office records.
“Crimes of this type are rare in our community,” said Oak Park police chief Rick C. Tanksley in a statement. “But when they do occur, there are many law enforcement resources the department can call upon to assist us.”
