Oak Lawn Police Reports: Property Damage, Package Theft, Car Burglary
Oak Lawn Police Department reported crimes through April 10.

Jamie Johnson, age 23 of the 1500 block of Kenilworth Drive, Calumet City, was arrested April 5 for driving with a suspended license, according to Oak Lawn police. Police pulled Johnson over at 95th Street and Southwest Highway for not having a license plate. A computer check showed his driver’s license was suspended. He was cited for driving with license suspended, no valid driver’s license and expired registration.
Someone spray painted the words “Diablo,” “Jam,” and the letters “TSK” on a clothing and shoe donation box belonging to Reeds Recovery House in a parking lot in the 9600 block of South Pulaski Road, according to Oak Lawn police. The defacement was reported April 7. Police reported “TSK” is street gang slang for “two-six killer.”

A package was reported stolen April 8 from a front porch in the 9700 block of South Merton Avenue, according to Oak Lawn police. The package was delivered March 30, and it contained a bedding and comforter set from eBay, delivered by the United States Postal Service. The value of the package was $109.99, according to police.
A woman’s iPhone was stolen from her lap April 8 around 4:45 a.m. while she was in the waiting room of the Advocate Christ Hospital emergency room, according to Oak Lawn police. She was asleep in the waiting room when another woman woke her up and told her a man had just taken her white and gold iPhone from her lap. They yelled for security to help, but the thief had left the emergency room waiting area. The woman tried to use the Find My iPhone app, but they couldn’t locate the phone. The estimated loss is $800, police reported.

Oak Lawn police responded to a report of property damage April 8 at 5:44 a.m. in the 6800 block of West 96th Place. The back window of a car parked on the street had been smashed with a brick, and pieces of brick were on the ground near the back of the car, police reported. The car’s owner didn’t know who might have damaged the car, but family member heard a noise at about 2 a.m. that morning, but she didn’t see anyone or anything wrong at the time.
Frank H. Lopez, age 24 of the 7800 block of South King Drive, Chicago, was arrested April 9 for driving with a suspended license, according to Oak Lawn police. He was pulled over for speeding at 95th Street and Lawton Avenue, and he changed lanes without signaling, police reported. A computer check showed his license was suspended. Lopez was brought to the Oak Lawn Police Department and issued citations for speeding, improper lane usage and driving while license suspended.
Someone stole a wallet April 10 from the center consol of a car in the 4000 block of West Fitzjames Walk, according to Oak Lawn police. The owner told police he never locks his car doors. He said he parked the car around 2 a.m. and returned around 4:15 a.m. to find that his car had been ransacked. His wallet contained at least two credit cards, a driver’s license and a retired military ID card, police reported A green iPod mini was also missing. The estimated loss is $150, according to police.
