OAK LAWN, IL — Oak Lawn Community High School musicians took their show on the road to the Deep Dish Music Festival at Columbia College Chicago, a popular music festival for high school and college musicians on March 10. Twenty-one students from the Modern Music Ensemble and Modern Music Ensemble workshop groups had the opportunity to perform for professionals in the pop music field at the event.

The electric guitar ensemble competed in the 56th annual Mundelein Jazz Invitational on March 11. The Spartans had two Outstanding Soloists Awards: Caio Cordeiro and Diego Davila.

“I couldn't be prouder of the students in the modern music and electric guitar ensembles,” OLCHS music teacher Bob Habersat said. These groups are mostly student led, and they are putting out professional sounding products.”
