Oak Lawn Woman Died Of Heat Stroke Last Month: Medical Examiner

The 54-year-old woman has not been identified but died June 27. Her death, which ethanol intoxication factored into, was accidental.

OAK LAWN, IL — The victim of the summer’s first heat-related death is a 54-year-old Oak Lawn woman, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed on Thursday.

The identity of the woman has not been released, but the medical examiner's office said that the death occurred on June 27 in the 4600 block of West 95th St. in Oak Lawn. According to an AccuWeather report, the temperature on that day topped out at 89 degrees .

An autopsy determined that the woman died of heat stroke with ethanol intoxication as a contributing factor. The death is being ruled an accident.

Temperatures are expected to reach 90 degrees again this weekend with a high of 89 on Saturday and reach a high of 91 on Sunday. According to records, there were five heat-related deaths in Cook County last summer.
