After he got home he checked the winning numbers on the Illinois Lottery website. When he saw that the numbers on his ticket matched, he froze.

“I asked my son-in-law to double check the ticket and when he confirmed that I won, we were both speechless,” Naples told the Illinois Lottery people. “Meanwhile, when my daughter heard the news she started screaming! We thought she was going to have a heart attack.”

The lucky Oak Lawn resident’s Quick Pick ticket matched all five numbers -- 06 - 08 - 09 - 10 - 33. Naples says he knows exactly what he will do with the $750,000 he won playing Lucky Day Lotto.

“This prize is for my four children and eight grandchildren. It’s all for them,” Naples said.

Jewel will also receive a $7,500 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.

Two winning tickets shared the March 3 $1.5 million jackpot prize. The other $750,000 winning ticket, also a Quick Pick, was purchased at Ardmore Station Liquors, 332 South Ardmore Avenue in Villa Park.
