Oak Lawn's 'Secret Gardens'

Oak Lawn Garden Club hosts annual garden walk.

Oak Lawn’s green thumbs put on a show Sunday afternoon with the annual Oak Lawn Garden Club's self-guided tour featuring the best village gardens.

Five select homes exhibited distinct, but equally beautiful, flower-scapes that transformed garden walkers into other worlds. From prim and proper pansy patches to wild and untamed lily beds, there was a variety of vegetation to admire.

For an $8 donation, walkers were treated to refreshments at each stop and had the opportunity to speak with knowledgeable gardeners about plants and landscape design.

Proceeds from the annual event will go toward the beautification of Oak Lawn where garden club members donate their talents to several community organizations including the Oak Lawn Park District, the Children’s Museum and the Wolfe Wildlife Refuge.

The Oak Lawn Garden Club is open to all adults with an interest in gardening. For more information visit the garden club website.
