OLCHS Student Who Got Hit By Car Released From Hospital

Oak Lawn Community High School students are reminded to cross at the crosswalks on 95th Street and Southwest Highway.

OAK LAWN, IL -- An Oak Lawn Community High School student who was struck by a car on Thursday afternoon has been released from the hospital. The male student was hit around 3:15 p.m. by a slow-moving vehicle near 95th Street and McVicker. The student was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center where he was treated and released for minor bumps and bruises.

“Today Principal Jeana Lietz delivered another message to our students about proper safety when crossing the streets around the school, with a strong emphasis that students are expected to use designated crosswalks when crossing 95th Street or Southwest Highway,” D229 Supt. Mike Riordan said in an email.

Parents may also want to remind their youngsters not to stare at their phones when crossing 95th Street or Southwest Highway -- or any street -- at the cross walks. We’re glad the young man is okay.
