OLHMS Band and Choir Excel at IGSMA District VI Organization Contest

OLHMS Band and Choir qualify for IGSMA State Contest with impressive Division 1 ratings.

Under the guidance of Band Directors Mr. John Kehl and Mrs. Beth Lyons, and Choir Director Ms. Kayla Hughes, the students were prepared for this contest throughout the school year.

The OLHMS Jazz Ensemble Band, Concert Band, and Concert Chorus all competed at the event. The Jazz Ensemble impressed the judges with their professionalism and improvised solos during their two selections. They also participated in an educational workshop.

The Concert Band's music selections included Night Fury by Carol Brittin Chambers, As Twilight Falls by Robert Sheldon, and Loyalty March by Larry Clark. Meanwhile, the Concert Chorus performed Didn't My Lord Deliver Daniel? by Greg Gilpin, Oceans and Stars by Amy Bernon, and Ad Astra by Jacob Narverud.

"We are pleased to announce that the Concert Band and Concert Chorus each received a Division 1 rating and qualified for the upcoming IGSMA State Contest on Saturday, April 29th!" - Mr. John Kehl

The OLHMS community is proud of their Mustang Musicians' achievements.

The IGSMA State Contest will take place on April 29th. The OLHMS Band and Choir will continue to represent their school with pride and showcase their musical talents.
