OLHSD 123 Teacher Awarded Marquette Bank Adopt-a-Classroom Grant

Serena Rahahleh, a fourth grade teacher at Oak Lawn-Hometown SD 123's Sward Elementary, received the Marquette Bank Adopt a Classroom grant.

A community member nominated fourth grade teacher Serena Rahahleh for the Marquette Bank "Adopt a Classroom" reward. She puts a lot of effort in her classroom at Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123's Sward Elementary, and will make good use of the $200 reward for improving the learning space.

“I am excited to purchase more flexible seating for my students. My class will enjoy having additional comfortable seating such as bean bags, rugs, and large pillows for independent and group learning activities. Additionally, I would like to explore the option of having a class pet. Don’t worry Sward community, I will start off small with maybe a goldfish. Thank you Marquette Bank and the anonymous community member for nominating me, I am so grateful." Miss Rahahleh.

The Bank Manager visited Sward on February 13th and presented the reward to Rahahleh and her classroom.

The Marquette Bank Adopt-A-Classroom prize drawing is part of the Marquette Neighborhood Commitment, where each quarter the bank focuses on a different area of need – shelter, hunger, education and health/wellness.
