On His Game: Oak Lawn's Pat Nudo

Pat Nudo is a two-way player for the football Spartans. He is trying to help Oak Lawn rebound from a 2-7 season. So far, so good.

Pat Nudo isn't the most outspoken of players on Oak Lawn's football team. But coach Sean Lucas still knows exactly what he's going to get from Nudo day after day.

Nudo was one of several Oak Lawn players to attend every team practice and training session over the summer, and that's one of the reasons he's positioned to play almost every snap this season.

Nudo's hard work is paying off. The Spartans rallied to defeat Niles North 21-17 in their opener and look to make it two straight wins on Friday night vs. Oswego East. He plays linebacker on defense. And, on the offensive side of the ball, he is transitioning from wide receiver to tight end.

Lucas says the position move has been smooth so far, and he doesn’t see any problems cropping up for Nudo down the road.

"Moving from receiver to tight end, obviously, we know he can catch the ball," Lucas said. "We just need him to get adjusted to the blocking, and we want leadership from him on that offensive line."
