A person of interest in the execution shooting death of 9-year-old Tyshawn Lee was being questioned again Tuesday by Chicago police detectives, the Chicago Tribune reported.

The boy was shot multiple times in an alley in the 8900 block of South Damen Avenue on Nov. 2, not too far from his grandmother’s house in the South Side Gresham neighborhood.

Police think Tyshawn was targeted and lured to alley and killed, possibly in retaliation for his father’s reputed gang ties. Pierre Stokes, who was selling T-shirts bearing his son’s image in the days following his boy’s death, has angrily denied the gang accusations.

Law enforcement sources told the Tribune that the person of interest is the same man that was interviewed on Nov. 4. The man was released without being charged.

The man was arrested Monday outside an Oak Lawn motel on an unrelated gun charge. Chicago police confiscated two guns from the man, who is a convicted felon who cannot lawfully possess guns, the newspaper said.

A spokesman for police Superintendent Garry McCarthy confirmed the arrest to the Tribune. The investigation into Tyshawn Lee’s death is ongoing.
