Ready, Set, GO OAK LAWN Gets Residents Active And Healthy
Oak Lawn Park District and Advocate Christ team up to offer a community wellness program to get residents active and healthy.

OAK LAWN, IL — The Oak Lawn Park District announces GO OAK LAWN, a new wellness movement designed to increase community health through activity, education, and collaboration. GO OAK LAWN is sponsored by Advocate Christ Medical Center.
The GO OAK LAWN initiative is simple: everyone makes a commitment to be active every day in their own neighborhoods, through Park District programs, events, services or at a park/trail. This free initiative offers an opportunity to encourage everyone in our community to take part in improving our health and wellness.
“We want to create a culture in our community that promotes physical movement. GO OAK LAWN is designed to encourage everyone to make a commitment to themselves and get moving for at least 30 minutes each day” said Maddie Kelly, executive director of the Oak Lawn Park District.

This movement is in response to the former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek H.Murthy’s call to action at a National Park and Recreation conference. He focused on the health benefits for people of all ages and stages of life, encouraging them to walk at least 30 minutes each day. This movement was developed by the Gurnee Park District.
There are many benefits to being active 30 minutes every day. Just walking each day can help prevent and reduce the risk of chronic diseases, premature death, and supports positive mental health. Oak Lawn Park District is excited to introduce GO OAK LAWN to the community.
