Richards announces summer athletic camps

A full slate for young athletes this summer

Richards High School will sponsor a wide variety of summer athletic camps starting in early June.

Those registering should make checks payable to Richards High School. Mail checks to Richards High School, Athletic Office, 10601 S. Central Avenue, Oak Lawn, IL 60453.

Each camp lists a coach to contact with any questions. The offerings include:

Baseball/Future Bulldogs/Co-Ed Camp – Grades 1 to 6; Contact: Brian Wujcik 499-2550 x5087, Brian.wujcik@chsd218.org; Dates: June 29, 30 and July 6, 7;Time: 1st, 2nd 3rd graders (7, 8, 9 year olds), 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 4th, 5th, 6th graders (10,11, & 12 year olds), 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Location: varsity baseball field. Camp will move indoors if it rains. Fee: $35 cash or check, payable at first session on June 29. Fee includes “Richards Baseball” T-shirt. Note: Campers should bring practice pants, sweat pants or shorts, gym shoes or spikes and glove. Helmets provided, feel free to bring a bat. Campers should bring water. Sunscreen recommended.

Basketball/Boys, Grades 9-12 - Contact: Derek Johnson, 708-499-2550 x5041, derek.johnson@chsd218.org; Dates: Monday to Thursday, June 9 – 26, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Location: Main Gym. Fee: $75.

Basketball/Boys - Future Bulldogs, Grades 3 to 8; Contact: Chris Passafiume at chris.passafiume@chsd218.org June 29-July 2, 9 a.m. to noon; Main Gym; Fee: $50, which includes “Richards Basketball” T-shirt.

Basketball/Girls, Grades 6 to 8 -- Basic Skills and Introduction to Richards Basketball; Contact: Jeff Kortz 499-2550 x5180, jeff.kortz@chsd218.org; Dates: TBA; Fee: $35.

Softball -- Camp 1: 8th Graders, Incoming Freshmen, and current players; June 15 to 18, 9 to 11 a.m.; Camp 2, Grades 3 to 7, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Contact: Lindsey Gierman, lindsey.gierman@218.org; Fee: $40, which includes “Richards Softball” T-shirt. Note: Bring softball glove, bat, water, spikes, hat/visor, sunscreen, sweat pants, long shirt (for sliding).

Volleyball/Boys -- Students Entering 6th through 12th grades; Contact: Troy Grevengoed, 499-2550 x5286, Troy.grevengoed@chsd218.org; Dates: June 15-18, 12:30 to 3 p.m.; Fee: $50, which includes T-shirt. Note: Bring water bottle.

Soccer/Boys and Girls (youth camp) -- Contact: Dan Scanlan, 499.2550, Ext 5772, Dan.scanlan@chsd218.org; Dates: July 20-23, 8 to 9:30 a.m.; Location: Polaris Field, 108th & Kenton Avenue, Oak Lawn; Fee: $50. Note: Bring water bottle, shin guards, cleats, soccer socks every day. Sunscreen and towel are recommended for extra hot/sunny days.

Tennis/Girls and Boys – All ages welcome; Dates: June 15 to 19, 8 to 11 a.m. Contact: Sue Szajek, Sue.szajek@chsd218.org; Wear comfortable clothes, and good gym shoes. Sunscreen is a must and a water bottle. Fee: $25.
