Richards drama wins pair of conference champioships

Group Interpretation ties with Reavis, OLHS; Contest Play wins SSC!

Both the Group Interpretation and Contest Play productions from Richards High School captured first place this weekend at the South Suburban Conference Drama Festival.

The Group Interpretation cast of “Nick Danger: Third Eye” received straight super ratings, the highest possible, to tie with Oak Lawn and Reavis for first place. Mike Jacobson, Connor Reynolds, and David Donnick serve as directors.

Richards students Ali Altahat, Kate Fraider, and Luke Ziolokowski earned All-Conference honors, while Ann Sheahan and Christian Diaz received All-Conference votes. Nora O’Shea, Sam Martinek, and Yasmine Abdelaziz comprise the remainder of the cast.

The Contest Play production of “Let the Right One In” won the conference championship and also received straight superior ratings from all judges. Mike Badger and Jon Nebor direct Contest Play.

Richards students Patrick Edmondson, Mairin Hunt, Emily Hennessey, Miranda Smith, Monique Rodriguez, Myah Bawadi and Tatiana-Shaikh-Ali earned All-Conference honors. Jafar Abdulshanab also received All-Conference votes.

Other cast members include Isabelle Hofer, Ben Collins, and Noelani Guerrero. Joe Fraider and Victoria Pankam manage sound and lights while Jaylah Corley, Laura Sendra, Anne Sendra, Aidan McGinnis, Kaitlyn Krzyzaniak, and Brendan Flahive comprise the crew.
