OAK LAWN, IL — Rose Savaglio is usually assigned to guard one of the top two scoring threats of opponents for the Oak Lawn Community High School girls basketball team. And this year she is living up to that task and holding those opponents below their season averages. Now, she is adding big offense to her resume on the court as well. It’s a deadly combination that is leading the Spartans to success.

Savaglio scored 12 points and had four steals in the victory over Riverside-Brookfield last month, and she scored seven points with four steals in a road win at Lemont in South Suburban Conference play. In beating Lemont, Savaglio held their second-leading scorer to just three points. She also had 10 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals in a conference victory over Tinley Park.

“Rose has been crucial in leading the team, to a 10-2 overall record thus far,” head girls basketball coach Mark Sevedge said. “She has been a constant leader in practice being loud, communicating, and showing her teammates how to continuously work hard to get better. As only a junior, Rose is really starting to establish herself as a leader of our program.”
