On Running donation supports The Closet

Eisenhower program provides shoes, clothing, more for students in need.

On Running, an apparel and shoe retailer based based in Switzerland with its North American headquarters in in Portland, Oregon, recently made a generous donation to The Closet at Eisenhower High School in Blue Island.

The Closet provides free shoes, clothing, hygine products, and more to needy students and their families in the Eisenhower community.

“My daughter, Lauren, works there. On, sometimes called On Running, is an athletic shoe and sportswear company originating in Switzerland with their North American headquarters in Portland. On makes annual donations to schools and programs across the country. Lauren asked if Eisenhower could benefit from a donation and she went on to nominate us. We were selected and a shipment of shoes were sent to Eisenhower,” said math teacher Sue Bauer.

Lauren Bauer said her mom’s high praise for the project prompted her to ask.

“My mom has spoken so highly about The Closet and all the good it does and I wanted to contribute. A coworker of mine asked the team if we had places that we could send shoes and I immediately thought of The Closet,” Lauren Bauer said.
