Cameron's Crusaders Plan Fundraiser At Brother Rice

Organizers are planning "Summer Cam," a day of fun at Brother Rice in memory of Cameron Fahey.

CHICAGO, IL - A fundraiser with music, food and raffles will remember the life of Cameron Fahey and raise money for the Cameron Miller Fahey Memorial Scholarship later this month at Brother Rice High School. Fahey was a Beverly neighborhood resident who died at age 17 in 2014, less than one year after he was diagnosed with the rare Burkitt's Lymphoma, an aggressive form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He was an incoming senior and a member of the Brother Rice Class of 2015 when he died.

For more than four years now, the work of Cameron's Crusaders has lived on in Fahey's memory. Funds raised by Cameron's Crusaders are used to support the scholarship, which help students at Brother Rice and St. Barnabas School who "exemplify the academic and personal qualities that made Cameron so special," according to the scholarship's website.

This year's benefit, dubbed as the inaugural "Summer Cam,"will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 14 at the Brother Rice Main Gym, 10001 S. Pulaski Road. Musical acts Blind Adam & The Federal League, Kacie Swierk, no eXscape, Nora Marks and Scout Ripley are scheduled to appear.
