ALSIP-CRESTWOOD, IL — A stretch of Pulaski Road that runs through Alsip, Crestwood, Robbins and Markham is set for a major overhaul. The Cook County Board of Commissioners approved $2.54 million for preliminary engineering.
County officials said the stretch of Pulaski from 127th Street to 159th Street is nearing the end of its useful life. The contract will fund the planning phase of the new roadway to be completed. Plans call for rehabilitation of the bridge over the Cal-Sage Channel, new roadway pavement, curb and gutters, ADA-compliant sidewalks, new traffic signals and roadway lighting.
The project is in the preliminary planning stages and is being spearheaded by the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways. County officials have not indicated when the project will start or how long it will take, as well as traffic patterns during construction.
