Resurfacing of Old Western Avenue Begins in Blue Island

IDOT officials say the work on Old Western Avenue will require daytime road closures.

BLUE ISLAND, IL — Starting this week, resurfacing will begin of Old Western Avenue from Broadway Street to Western Avenue in Blue Island. The work will require daytime lane closures, Illinois Department of Transportation officials said.

The project involves patching, resurfacing and constructing new ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps, and is expected to be completed in late June. Access to residences and businesses within the work zone will be maintained throughout construction.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
