Security Guard Dragged By Neck While Trying to Handcuff Woman in Blond Bun

A shoplifter dropped his Apple phone after he grabbed a loss prevention officer around the neck who was trying to handcuff his female companion during a Hennessy heist at Mariano’s, reports said.

Oak Lawn police responded to the supermarket at 11100 S. Cicero Ave. around 6:40 p.m. Jan. 24.

The loss prevention officer told police that he observed a male and female, who appeared to be about 18, enter the store by the produce department. The woman grabbed a shopping basket and placed a bag of oranges in it.

The pair then headed for the liquor department, where the loss prevention watched the woman put two bottles of Hennessy cognac valued at $72 into her purse, reports said.

The man and woman walked back to the produce department where they ditched the basket and then exited the grocery store through the vestibule.

The loss prevention officer attempted to to stop the woman, ordering her to return the items she didn’t pay for to the store. When she refused to comply, her male accomplice grabbed the loss prevention officer around his neck and dragged him backwards.

While the loss prevention officer struggled with the man, the man’s cell phone fell out the pocket of his hooded sweatshirt. The loss prevention officer picked up the phone and the man said to arrest him, not the woman.

The pair were able to get away and fled through the parking lot, splitting in opposite directions. The loss prevention officer chased the woman, but lost her at Cooper’s Hawk.

Police searched the surrounding area but were unable to located them. A look at security video showed the pair arriving in a newer model Nissan Altima.

The woman wore glasses and had long blond hair gathered in a bun. The man wore a gray hoodie, black sweatpants and white gym shoes.
