Shepard welcomes new faculty

So many new Astros!

Principal Dr. Greg Walder and Shepard High School welcomed several new faculty members for the start of the 2021-2022 school year.

New staff members include English teacher Andy Barrientos, who earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; social studies teacher Anthony Carter, who earned a bachelor’s degree from Chicago State University and a master’s degree from Lewis University; special education teacher Stacion Cruz DeLaPena, who earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Chicago State University.

Also, art teacher Kelly Curtin, who earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University and a master’s degree from Lewis University; counselor Aminah Garcia, who earned a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University Chicago and a master’s degree from Lewis University; Tier III Interventionist Caroline Graham, who earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Also, John Hruskocy, a career and technical education teacher who earned a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and a master’s degree from Illinois State University; academic interventionist Katie Insley, who earned a bachelor’s degree from Governors State University and a master’s degree from Benedictine University; math teacher Emma Lizzio, who earned two bachelor’s degrees from Illinois State University.

Also, special education teacher Thomas Murphy, who earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Trinity Christian College; art teacher Patrick Richert, who earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago; special education teacher Miquela Rubio, who earned a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University.
