Shoplifter Swipes Over $43,000 Worth Of Gold Earrings From Sears: Prosecutor

Chicago man is being held on arrest warrant. Cops said he walked out of Chicago Ridge mall with jewelry stolen from a glass display case.

CHICAGO RIDGE, IL -- An alleged jewel thief is being held on a $200,000 warrant after he heisted thousands of dollars in jewelry from the Chicago Ridge Sears, prosecutors said. Raymond Garvin, 63, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a felony retail theft charge.

Garvin is accused cutting a security alarm on a display case and walking out of the shopping mall with $43,708 worth of assorted gold earrings. There was some question of whether or not Sears was able to get it’s merchandise back, but Garvin’s attorney told the judge that the jewelry was recovered.

Garvin is due back in court Aug. 17 in Bridgeview.
