Smash-And-Grab Crew Comes Back For Seconds At Previously Targeted Restaurant In Oak Lawn

OAK LAWN, IL—A smash-and-grab crew came back for seconds at an Oak Lawn restaurant that was targeted in January, Oak Lawn police said.

Around 7 a.m. Friday, multiple people broke into La Cocina de Mama Restaurant, 5721 W. 95th St., with sledgehammers and damaged the video gaming terminals and fled in a single vehicle.

The glass was completely gone from the entry door to the restaurant, with a pile of broken shards on the ground.

Oak Lawn police arrived on the scene as the crew fled in a vehicle. Officers followed the vehicle but terminated the chase because of the hour of the morning and the extreme reckless driving of the getaway vehicle, police said.

“We are actively investigating,” Oak Lawn police said in an email.
