Spartan Golfers Lead By Example At OLCHS

Lauren Burke and Bobby Crosby carry leadership role to Spartan golf teams as Oak Lawn Community High School atheltes of the week.

OAK LAWN, IL —Two Spartan golfers are leading by example at Oak Lawn Community High School. Senior girls golfer and Lauren Burke and boys golfer Bobby Crosby were both tapped Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 7.

Burke posted one of the team’s top scores to help lead the Spartans in a match against South Suburban Conference Red rival Shepard.

“Lauren was a member of the first-ever girls golf team at Oak Lawn Community High School to compete in the Illinois High School Association’s State Series,” OLCHS head coach Pat Mayer said. “She is a team leader of this year’s squad. She is currently a caddie at Beverly Country Club and puts in extra time toward her game. She shares her knowledge with the team and is a team leader.”

On the boys side of golf, Crosby starts the season as one of the top returning golfers in the SSC.

“Bobby loves the game and is always working on his game,” Mayer said. He spent the summer caddying and working on his game. Bobby’s hard work is paying off as he has already led the Spartans to a 2-0 start to the season.”
