Sports Photo Gallery: Richards Soccer Focus on Skill Work at Boot Camp

The Richards boys soccer team spent a week preparing for the upcoming season in camp at Polaris Fields.

Down three goals in a recent summer game, the Richards boys soccer team came back to tie the match, and the Bulldogs' work did not go unnoticed.

"A good end to our summer and a new start to our season," Richards coach Dan Scanlon said.

Scanlon is working with a team in rebuilding mode, but he has high hopes for the upcoming high school season, nonetheless.

"We lost four big-minute (players) from last year, including the starting goalie," he said. "We're looking to get a little better after losing in the playoffs last year. I see the team showing strides each year and improving our record."

As the team scrimmaged and worked on technique, Scanlon could see the Bulldogs making strides and could see new talent emerging.

In camp, Ayed Rayyan covered the field well. And he continued to put the ball in the net. Another player to watch is senior Brandon Brewster.

"We're doing a lot of scrimmage work," Scanlon said. "We're getting to see a lot of underclassmen here, getting to see what they have and what to work on. We have seniors that step in. Then, we'll throw a few underclassmen out there and put a good product on the field."
