St. Gerald Fest and Carnival Offers Fun, Food and Frivolity, Aug. 10-Aug. 13

OAK LAWN, IL -- For over 60 years, the parishioners of St. Gerald Church have been setting up booths on the corner of Southwest Highway and Central Avenue for the annual summer parish carnival. This weekend the ever popular St. Gerald Fest returns for four fun-filled days, from Aug. 10 through Aug. 13. The carnival offers rides, music, food, bingo, crafts and raffles. Proceeds benefit the Jonathan Collins Activity Center.

St. Gerald Parish welcomes Chuck’s Southern Comfort Cafe of Burbank, New China Express and Buddy’s Italian Ice to the food court. Father Malcolm’s food tent returns along with his famous bread. Parishioners have also lined up some spectacular beer tent entertainment, including Rockaholics, Anthem Chicago, Fifty-One Lincoln, Dancing Noodles, YNuts, Crosstalk Classic and Almost Einstein.

This year, the parish will be raffling off a GRAND PRIZE of $10,000 on Sunday, Aug. 13. Second prize is $500 and $250 for the third prize winner. Tickets are $25 each or five tickets for $100. You need not be present to win. If you don't win the big prize, you'll have plenty of chances to win at bingo, which is featured all four days of the fest.

You can still buy four-day mega passes at the $40 pre-sale price through 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10; $60 at the carnival. The mega passes are good for ALL rides for ALL four days for ALL ages. Mega passes can be purchased by the calling the parish office at 708-422-0234. Unlimited ride specials are available from 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday; wristbands are $20.

Bingo: 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 11 p.m.

Bands: Fifty-One Lincoln, 3 p.m.; Dancing Noodles 8 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 13

Carnival hours: 1 to 10 p.m.

Bingo: 2 to 8 p.m.

Bands: YNuts 1 p.m.; Crosstown Classic 2:30 p.m.; and Almost Einstein 6:30 p.m.
