Super Bowl of Martial Arts: Today is the Day for Joon Lee's Tae Kwon Do Students

In Los Angeles, hours upon hours of hard work will be put to the test at the ATU National Championships.

The day finally has arrived for students from Joon Lee’s Tae Kwon Do School. Today, 28 students ranging from ages 5-62 are competing in Los Angeles in the ATU National Championships.

Earlier in the week, Patch had the opportunity to catch up with some of the students who will be competing.

“I’m excited because it’s my first nationals,” Keely Rodriguez said. “So I’m not sure how it’s going to be different from other tournaments.”

Rodriguez is 11 years old and is the sister of Stephanie (14 years old) and Mario (7 years old), who are also competing today. All three are brown belts.

Together, the three make an unbeatable trio. In five previous tournaments, the siblings are undefeated at family forms.

Paola (9 years old) and Daniel (12 years old) Arenas are also competing today. The high red belts will not only be enjoying the competition, but will be staying in California to enjoy Disneyland, Sea World and Hollywood.
