Vacation Bible School 'Blasts Off ' At OL First United Methodist
Kids are invited to "blast off to Mars" every Sunday through Aug. 28 at First United Methodist Church Vacation Bible School in Oak Lawn.
OAK LAWN, IL — Vacation Bible School at First United Methodist Church of Oak Lawn will be blasting off to Mars Sunday, June 26. The program, “To Mars and Beyond,” will meet from 9 to 10 a.m. every Sunday through Aug. 28, at 100th Street and Central Avenue. The program is FREE.
Students will boldly go where no person has gone before. Through music, crafts, science, recreation and videos, students will go beyond the earthly bounds with faith, boldness, kindness, thankfulness and hope.
The program is open to all children ages 4 through fifth grade, and is free of charge. Participation in worship is not required, but parents are asked to stay on the premises during vacation bible school hour. Parents are welcome to join church members during the worship hour. There will also be a room for parents to read their phones and tablets, while their kids are having fun and learning stuff.

At the program’s conclusion on Aug. 28, vacation bible school students will do a presentation during worship hour. For more information, call the church at 708-423-1170. See you on Mars.
Also, on the second and fourth Saturday of the month, First United Methodist’s famous parking lot sales will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tables are available to rent for $10 for the sale of wares, crafts or attic treasures. Vendors may arrive as early as 6:30 a.m. to set up and pay that day. Come out and greet your neighbors, sell some wares and take home treasures.
