Video: Raucous send-off to state for Richards varsity girls
SSC champions, ranked #11 in state, head to Rockford for IHSA state finals
Perhaps bowlers don’t receive the same level of attention as other athletes, but the state-bound Richards High School varsity girls bowling team could not hide their smiles this morning.
Classmates, teachers, and parents gathered for a raucous send off as the team left for the IHSA state finals in Rockford. And the team, ranked #11 in Illinois, won’t soon forget the day.
Athletic Director Ken Styler, cheerleading coach Crystal Miguez, and many other Richards staff members and students helped make today’s send-off for head coach Lindsey Gierman and the varsity girls bowling team so memorable.

Champions of the South Suburban Conference Red Division, unbeaten in dual play, winners of three invitationals, Richards placed second at the Sandburg Regional and third at the Joliet West sectional to qualify as a team for the IHSA state finals. Here’s how everything looked and sounded today:
