Watch: Red Fox Pays Morning Visit to Oak Lawn Yard
"So much for sleeping in," reader says.
A red fox visited a south suburban yard early Friday morning.
Patch reader Colleen H. shared this video of her little visitor peering through her patio window near 104th Street and Kildare in Oak Lawn, yacking and scratching.

Red foxes have been making their homes in the south suburbs for the past several years. The red fox is typically the largest of all foxes. The red fox usually features red-orange fur, with pointy ears, white tummy, white markings on its muzzle and the tip of its tail, and black stockings on the legs, according to OzFoxes.
Foxes rarely attack dogs or cats, but will fight a dog if one gets too close to its den. The wily fox would rather lead a curious dog away from the den than do battle. Foxes dine on small mammals, like rats, mice and squirrels, but will scrounge through your garbage can.

“Don't know if this barking/yacking is normal,” Colleen wrote. “So much for sleeping in-ha!”
