UPDATE: Worth Man Located, Found Safe

Family informs Patch that John Caccavella has been found and is safe.

UPDATE: Family members have located John. He is safe.

Family members are looking for 43-year-old man who has not been seen nor heard from since Oct. 3.

John Caccavella Jr. was living in Worth when his sister, Tracy Caccavella, last spoke to him on Oct. 3. Tracy is concerned because her brother had recently suffered some setbacks before he disappeared.

“We’re Italian, we get together every Sunday for a big family dinner,” Caccavella’s sister said. “It’s not like John to go this long without getting in touch with his family and letting us know he’s okay.”

Caccavella had recently lost his job at a direct mail service company. His sister said he was trying to hang on to his apartment, which he was in danger of losing because be didn’t have enough money for rent.

The family has filed a missing person report with the Worth Police Department. Tracy Caccavella said she’s been calling hospitals and checking with her brother’s known contacts. No one has heard from or seen him. The last activity on his Facebook page was October 4.

His family has been sending him private messages on his Facebook page but the messages show that they haven’t been read.

“He’s just missing,” Tracy said. “We don’t know if he’s in a hospital or if he still has his ID. He’s an adult. We just want to know that he’s okay and alive.”

Caccavella was last seen at his apartment near Harlem Avenue and Southwest Highway. Tracy said her brother was sharing the apartment with a roommate, but the roommate has also since moved out. Her brother’s belongings are still the in unit.

He is a lifelong resident of the Burbank, Oak Lawn and Worth area. Caccavella is a male white, about 5-feet-7-inches, 170 pounds, with brown eyes and short-shaved brown-gray hair.

His sister said her next step is check to see if any unidentified John Does have been brought to the Cook County Medical Examiner.

“It has never been this long without him contacting us, especially with the holidays coming,” his sister said.
