Young Child in Hotel Pool Drowning Identified as 9-Year-Old Michigan Girl

ALSIP, IL -- The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the young girl who drowned Saturday at an Alsip hotelas 9-year-old Adriana Douglas of Highland Park, MI.

Police said the child was found unresponsive in the swimming pool at the DoubleTree Hotel Alsip at 5000 W. 127th St. shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday. She was pronounced dead at 6:37 p.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Alsip police originally reported the girl's age as 10 years old. The Michigan girl was reportedly in the area for a cheerleading competition, police said.

The matter remains under investigation. Alsip police said no foul play is suspected.
