Police say three teens were in the 7-Eleven during the robbery. A 17-year-old was shot by an employee; a 15-year-old was arrested.

OAK PARK, IL — A 15-year-old boy has been charged with a recent armed robbery attempt at 7-Eleven in which another alleged robber, 17, was shot by the store employee. According to police, three teenagers were involved in the incident at 240 Chicago Ave. late Monday night.

The employee told police that the three teens came into the store and one of them displayed a handgun, Chicago Tribune reports. The teens approached the back of the store before the employee shot one boy with a firearm for which he reportedly had a permit.

Cops say the other teens fled the scene after the 17-year-old was shot. He was rushed to Loyola Medical Center and his condition was critical after the shooting, according to Chicago Tribune. David Powers, spokesperson for Oak Park, told the Tribune he didn't have any updates on the 17-year-old's condition.
