Oak Park Police reported several armed robberies in Oak Park during a 24-hour period Thursday and Friday.

OAK PARK, IL — Three separate armed robberies took place Thursday and Friday in Oak Park. The robberies, which occurred over a 24 hour period, are still under investigation. One robbery targeted a local Metro PCS store; the other two targeted individuals.
The first incident took place on Thursday at approximately 11: 54 a.m. at a Metro PCS store location in the first block of Chicago Avenue. The suspect entered the store and began asking an employee some questions. He then pulled a silver handgun and demanded money from the cash register. The employee gave him $250 cash before the robber then demanded the Metro PCS business phone and the employee's personal phone. She gave him the office phone and handed him her phone —a Samsung phone in a pink case —from her pocket. After receiving both items, the man fled. He is described as a black male in his teens or early 20s, 5'6" tall, wearing faded blue jeans and a white t-shirt with an Air Jordan logo.
Several hours later, another armed robbery took place in the 600 block of Garfield. The suspect came up behind the man as he was walking. With a chrome revolver visible, the man demanded the victim's backpack (which contained the victim's ID and debit cards) and cellphone. The victim described the suspect as a black male with facial hair. He is described as between 6'0" and 6'3" tall and between 230 and 260 pounds. He may have had facial hair, according to the police report, and was wearing a long-sleeve hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
