October 1 is just around the corner and there are big changes on the horizon for healthcare. Are you ready?
Starting October 1, individuals will be able to buy insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace or Exchanges.
The Marketplace is a new way to find quality health coverage. It can help if you don’t have coverage now or if you have it but want to look at other options. Insurance plans in the Marketplace are offered by private companies. They cover the same core set of benefits called essential health benefits. No plan can turn you away or charge you more because you have an illness or medical condition. They must cover treatments for these conditions. Plans can't charge women more than men for the same plan. Many preventive services are covered at no cost to you. While all insurance plans are offered by private companies, the Marketplace is run by either your state or the federal government. To get more information, go to:

Another big change is the focus on accountable care and accountable care organizations or ACOs. The Accountable Care Organization concept is one that is evolving, but generally, an ACO can be defined as a set of health care providers—including primary care physicians, specialists, and hospitals—that work together collaboratively and accept collective accountability for the cost and quality of care delivered to a population of patients.
