Armed Men In Surgical Masks Commit Crime Spree: Cicero Cops

OAK PARK, IL — Police are looking for four armed men who allegedly donned surgical masks and committed an early morning crime spree that included a carjacking and several robberies throughout Berwyn, Cicero, and Chicago. The spree started with an attempted carjacking at 21st St. and 58th Ct. in Cicero just before 1:30 a.m. and continued until nearly 5:30 a.m., according to an email from Ray Hanania, spokesman for the Cicero Police Department.

Here's the the timeline for this early morning crime spree:

1:24 a.m.: Police respond to a report of an attempted carjacking near the intersection of 21st St. and 58th Ct. in Cicero.

4:45 a.m.: Suspects driving a maroon 4-wheel drive vehicle carjack a white Dodge Charger in Chicago, police say.

5 a.m.: Attempted carjacking reported in the 1400 block of S. 61st Ave. in Cicero. Police believe the same suspects were responsible.

Minutes after 5 a.m.: Suspects steal woman's cellphone in the 1800 block of S. 61st Ave. in Cicero, according to police.

5:18 a.m.: Police say four suspects rob a woman at gunpoint, stealing her purse in the 2300 block of S. 58th Ct.

5:27 a.m.: Four suspects steal a man's wallet and car keys at gunpoint in the 2600 block of S. 59th Ave., according to Hanania's email.

Around 5:30 a.m.: A male and female couple were robbed in the 2700 block of S. 59th Ave. The suspects took a wallet, cellphone, and purse, according to police.

Cicero Police Department is working with Berwyn Police Department and Chicago police to investigate this incident. The suspects are described as four black males who were last seen wearing surgical masks. No further description is available.
