Carjacker, Armed Robber Target Delivery Drivers In Oak Park

Two suspects targeted local delivery drivers in two separate incidents last Wednesday.

OAK PARK, IL — Police in Oak Park are looking for suspects who targeted delivery drivers in two separate incidents — one involving an attempted carjacking and the other involving armed robbery. Both incidents took place during the evening on Wednesday, April 12 in different parts of town, according to OakPark.com.

The first incident took place at 6:30 p.m. near the 1100 block of North Humphrey, police told the outlet. A man reportedly approached a female delivery driver while she was in her vehicle, opened the driver’s side door and asked her to exit the car while placing his hand in his pocket. The driver did not exit the vehicle and sped away, according to the site. She described the man as a black male in his 20s, standing between 5’7” and 5’10”. He has a slim build and was wearing blue jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt at the time of the attempted carjacking.

Shortly after 9 p.m. another food delivery driver was robbed while in his car on the 100 block of Washington Boulevard. During this armed robbery in Oak Park, the man entered the backseat of the delivery driver’s vehicle and showed a handgun before demanding money, OakPark.com reported. The driver gave the man $50 and his iPhone before the suspect exited the vehicle and drove west on Washington Boulevard. The victim described the man as a black male in his 30s. He was described as 6 feet tall with a heavy build. At the time of the armed robbery, he was wearing black sweatpants, a gray hooded sweatshirt and a black knit cap with the word, “Chicago” printed in white letters.
