Bellwood Cyclist Fatally Hit By Semi Months Before Getting Off Parole

Roosevelt Huddleston, 53, was hit and killed by a semi truck as he rode his bike near his home in Bellwood.

BELLWOOD, IL — Roosevelt Huddleston was just a few months away from getting off parole when a semi truck struck and killed him within a few blocks of his home. Huddleston, 53, was fatally hit as he rode his bicycle in the 400 block of Mannheim Road in Bellwood Thursday, according to Chicago Sun-Times.

Huddleston was rushed to Maywood's Loyola University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead just before 10:30 p.m. An autopsy by the Cook County Coroner's Office determined that the manner of death was accidental.

According to Sun-Times, Huddleston was just months from being released from parole for a felony theft offense in 2014. He was formerly convicted of stealing a Salvation Army bucket from an Ultra Foods store in Lombard. He had just been released from prison in December.
