Oak Park Ave. The public is warmly welcome to attend the outdoor concert with a canned food donation for Oak Park Community Fridge, a sharing initiative aiming to reduce food insecurity and food waste, while building a stronger community.
Oak Park Arms resident and renown blues guitarist Lurrie Bell will perform with the Caught Off Guards. Born in Chicago in 1958, Bell is the son of harmonica great Carey Bell. His father's band, the Carey Bell Blues Band, often rehearsed in the family's home, and Lurrie grew up admiring the music and musicians. He taught himself how to play the guitar and eventually played with his father's band.
“The first outdoor concert of the season is always exciting,” said Renee Steingard, director of leasing and resident engagement at the Oak Park Arms. “We have always enjoyed the Caught Off Guards, and to welcome one of our own, Blues legend Lurrie Bell, is a special treat.”
