Body Of Missing Oak Park Man Found In West Virginia River

OAK PARK, IL — The body of an Oak Park man was found in a river in West Virginia a day after he went swimming in the river's rapids. Abdulrahman Binomran, 28, of Oak Park went missing Thursday after he and three friends swam in the tumultuous waters of New River Gorge National River. A diver from The National Park Service found Binomran's body Friday.

According to NBC, Binomran was last seen fighting to stay above water before going under. Binomran's body was found 18 feet underwater beneath a sizable boulder.

According to West Virginia Public Broadcast, the search for Binomran was hindered by "strong undercurrents, murky waters, and boulders." This is the second drowning in New River Gorge National River in two weeks, according to the National Park Service.
