Khroma vs. Chroma. Konfused??
Ever wonder what happens when two products compete in the same space with the same name? Let the battle begin!
In the advertising world of branding and trade dress, the Kardashians take the kake. So konfident are they of their brand that they kontend there is no konfusing their makeup brand with another makeup brand of the same name that starts with the humble letter “C”.
Well, that is what they will kontend if and when they are dragged to kourt by the kompetitor who was first in time with the brand name “Chroma” Makeup. According to TMZ, the owners of the original Chroma Makeup spent 12 years building their brand of high end makeup products in California. The owners are not happy that the Kardashians intend to market makeup under the name “Khroma Beauty” at CVS and other lowly type stores. How konfusing!
It seems that “Chroma Makeup” did not apply for a trademark. Taking advantage of this seeming loophole, the Kardashians have applied for a trademark. Turns out, you do not actually need to have a trademark, in some kases, to win! But it sure makes it easier.
