Suspended License to Drive?

No matter how you try to twist it, a suspended license is not a valid license and it can affect your insurance coverage.

It seems obvious that if your license is suspended, you do not have a valid license to drive.  Well, maybe not so obvious.  One of my favorite blog subjects, Amanda Bynes, recently pleaded “not guilty” to two counts of driving on a suspended license.  How can she prove she had a valid license?  The only answer I am aware of is to show a valid driver’s license.

I am often asked if an insurance company has the right to deny insurance coverage to a person who has a suspended license.  The short answer is “yes” if at the time you secured the insurance and/or were driving, your license was suspended.  Most, if not all automobile insurers, require a driver to have a valid license at all times as a prerequisite to coverage.  A suspended license, is not a valid license, even if you can get it back.

If you have an issue a suspended license or an accident, please call the Hoag Law Group, LLC. today for your free initial consultation!  Call now:  1-800HOAGLAW.
