Today's popular media commonly claims that the United States Supreme Court is unusually activist and that we live in unusually partisan times. The goal of this presentation is to contextualize our current moment by examining other turbulent periods in history--from the 1790s through the Warren Court. Using case studies, Dr Raff Donelson explores moments of judicial activism and high partisanship to show that they emerge in cycles and gives audience members added perspective and hope for the future.
Dr. Raff Donelson is a Professor of Law and Philosophy at Illinois Tech and serves as the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs at Chicago-Kent College of Law.
